Apostolate of Fatima presents day of prayer
NORTH SCITUATE — The Rhode Island division of the World Apostolate of Fatima will present a day of prayer and reflection on Saturday, June 13, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Our Lady of the Pines Shrine and Retreat House, 989 Peeptoad Rd. Fathers Robert Bailey and Paul Desmarais will serve as conference speakers.

Patronal feast is set for St. Anthony Church
NORTH PROVIDENCE — St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Ave., will host its 31st annual patronal feast, entitled “A Taste of Italy,” Sunday, June 14, from 1 to 7 p.m. in the parish center, rain or shine.
The event will include music, dancing, children’s crafts, Italian specialties from local restaurants, as well as doughboys and other sweets. Proceeds will benefit parish ministries that help those less fortunate.

St Mary of the Bay plans parish festival
WARREN — St Mary of the Bay Church, 645 Main St., will host its 20th annual festival, June 20-21. Mary’s Marketplace will be open Saturday, June 20, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., offering items such as small appliances, games, books, knick-knacks, lamps and furniture. Father Peter Gower will celebrate a Mass of Anointing, Sunday, June 21, 10:30 a.m. and offer a blessing to all who are sick or disabled.
Following Mass, the parish clambake and classic car show will be held at the Pete Sepe Pavilion on Hugh Cole Road off Route 103, Child Street, near the Kickemuit Middle School.

Youth ministry plans leadership institute
PROVIDENCE — The diocesan Office of Comprehensive Youth Ministry will sponsor Youth Christian Leadership Institute (YCLI) 2009, Tuesday, June 23 beginning at 4 p.m. through June 27, at the Fr. Marot CYO Center, Federal St., Woonsocket.
The leadership institute focuses on providing adolescents (going into 10th grade and older) with the training to plan and facilitate meetings and programs, to participate in and lead prayer services, to listen "actively" and more, thus enabling youth to serve as leaders in their parishes, schools and communities.

St. John the Baptist marks 125th anniversary
PAWTUCKET — St. John the Baptist Church, 69 Quincy Ave., will celebrate its 125th anniversary with an Anniversary Mass, Sunday, June 21, at 11:30 a.m. Bishop Thomas J. Tobin will be the main celebrant. The Mass will be celebrated in English, French and Spanish.

St. Philomena Convent commemorates closing
PORTSMOUTH — The Sisters,
Faithful Companions of Jesus living at St. Philomena Convent have a tradition of more than 50 years of sponsoring, administering and teaching at St. Philomena School.
Since today’s accommodation is too large for its residents, the remaining sisters will move out of the convent and into a smaller lodging on the school campus this summer.
